Kuwait Shuts Down Iranian Private School Amid Regional Tensions

Thu, Aug 6, 2026(45d ago)World

Kuwaiti authorities have officially revoked the educational license of the Iranian Private School, mandating its immediate closure. Education Minister Sayed Jalal Al Tabtabaei confirmed that the move is grounded in existing private education regulations and serves the broader public interest. To manage the transition, the General Department of Private Education has been tasked with overseeing the closure process and ensuring all legal procedures are strictly followed.

As part of the phase-out plan, the school is prohibited from enrolling any new students starting from the 2026-27 academic year. In the meantime, officials are working to contact parents of currently enrolled students to guide them through the process of transferring their children to alternative institutions. This decisive action arrives during a period of heightened geopolitical instability, as regional tensions continue to escalate following the collapse of a delicate truce between the United States and Iran.
