Thirteen Indian Crew Members Rescued Following Maritime Attack Off Oman

Mon, Sep 14, 2026(55m ago)World

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed that 13 out of 14 Indian crew members have been safely rescued following a hostile attack on the commercial vessel 'MT El Gaia' near the coast of Oman on September 13. While the majority of the crew is safe, search efforts are currently underway to locate the single remaining missing national. The Indian Embassy in Oman is working in close coordination with local authorities to manage the situation, and the government has formally expressed its gratitude to Omani officials for their swift assistance during the rescue mission.

In a strong response to the incident, the Indian government condemned the assault, describing the targeting of civilian infrastructure and commercial shipping as entirely unacceptable. India has issued an urgent call for de-escalation in the region, emphasizing that diplomacy and dialogue are the only viable paths to restoring long-term stability. Furthermore, officials stressed the critical importance of ensuring the safe and unimpeded flow of international trade, urging stakeholders to restore secure navigation through these vital maritime corridors as quickly as possible.
