A Bahraini man has been handed a five-year prison sentence by the High Criminal Court after being found guilty of using social media to endorse and support attacks against the kingdom carried out by Iran. The case began when local cybercrime authorities flagged a social media profile featuring images, videos, and commentary that explicitly approved of these hostile acts. Following an investigation, the individual was identified, and forensic analysis of his seized electronic devices, combined with witness testimony, confirmed his role in disseminating the content.

Beyond the prison term, the court has ordered the defendant to pay a fine of 2,000 dinars and mandated the permanent confiscation of his electronic equipment. In response to the verdict, the Public Prosecution reiterated that while freedom of speech is a protected right, it must exist within the boundaries of the law. Officials emphasized that they will continue to take strict legal action against anyone found promoting or justifying terrorist activities, warning that such online behavior poses a direct threat to national security and social stability.
