Medical Team Conducts Health Check on Imran Khan in Adiala Jail
Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan recently underwent a comprehensive medical examination while being held at the high-security Adiala Jail. The 73-year-old politician, who has been imprisoned since 2023 on corruption charges, has been the subject of ongoing health concerns raised by his legal team and supporters. While officials at the prison have repeatedly denied claims that his condition is worsening, a specialist team from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) was brought in to conduct checks on his blood pressure, cholesterol, and eye health to address these lingering anxieties.
The check-up follows a period of tension regarding Khan’s access to proper healthcare, with his party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), actively lobbying for him to be transferred to a private facility like Shifa International Hospital. Despite a previous Supreme Court directive suggesting private care, Khan remains under the supervision of state medical services. As PTI prepares for nationwide demonstrations later this month to demand his release, the state of the former leader's health continues to be a central and highly debated aspect of Pakistan’s volatile political landscape.
