UAE Leads Global Digital Adoption as Cybersecurity Becomes a Top Priority
The United Arab Emirates has solidified its reputation as one of the most digitally connected nations globally, with a recent report by Idemia Secure Transactions revealing that 97% of residents are active users of digital services. This rapid digital transformation has become so deeply ingrained in daily life that nearly 80% of the population now conducts most of their routine activities via smartphones and online platforms. As the nation pushes forward with its National Cyber Security Strategy 2025–2031, there is a clear shift in consumer sentiment: security is no longer viewed as a secondary luxury but as a non-negotiable pillar of the user experience.
In fact, the study highlights that security has become the primary deciding factor for many users when selecting digital services, even outpacing traditional convenience metrics. Consumers are increasingly seeking advanced authentication tools, with a significant majority expressing interest in using physical payment cards for identity verification and demanding more transparency regarding the apps connected to their financial data. This evolution is happening alongside rising concerns about emerging threats; most residents are now aware that artificial intelligence and quantum computing are making cyberattacks more sophisticated, forcing companies to double down on encryption and tokenization to maintain public trust in the digital economy.
