Emaar Cancellations Normalize as Confidence Remains High
Mohamed Alabbar, the founder of Emaar Properties, recently revealed that the company has seen a significant stabilization in property cancellations. While regional tensions briefly caused monthly cancellations to double to approximately 1,200, those figures have since returned to the company's baseline of roughly 600 per month. Despite the temporary volatility, Alabbar emphasized that customer confidence remains unshaken, noting that collections have stayed consistent throughout the period and that the company holds a robust sales backlog of Dh180 billion.
Speaking at the Sharjah Investment Forum 2026, Alabbar highlighted the UAE’s unique appeal, noting that families and investors are increasingly prioritizing long-term stability, safety, and quality of life over simple financial incentives. He encouraged business leaders to embrace flexibility in a world defined by frequent disruptions, suggesting that companies shift from rigid long-term plans to quarterly strategy reviews. Furthermore, he underscored the necessity of adopting artificial intelligence to remain competitive and maintained his firm stance on prioritizing product quality over discounts, attributing his global success to the talent he hires and a dedication to building a better society for the future.
