UAE Braces for Record Heat and Rare Summer Showers
As the summer season reaches its peak in the UAE, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has warned that temperatures are set to soar, occasionally pushing past the 50°C mark in western regions. While residents are already modifying their daily schedules to steer clear of the intense afternoon sun, experts caution that the hottest stretch of the year is still ahead. Although these extreme spikes will be brief, the combination of stifling heat and high humidity will remain a defining feature of the coming months.
Interestingly, the sweltering heat will be punctuated by bouts of rain, particularly in the country's eastern and mountainous zones. Known locally as the "Rawayeh" season, this period sees the formation of convective clouds fueled by the region's unique topography and moisture from the Arabian Sea. While major urban hubs like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah may see little more than a bit of cloud cover, mountainous areas can anticipate scattered showers through the end of the week, providing a slight, albeit localized, reprieve from the relentless summer temperatures.
