A Heartwarming Homecoming: Filipino Toddler Returns from Dubai Shelter
A two-year-old Filipino girl, who had been living in a Dubai shelter since infancy, has finally returned to her home country. The toddler arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on July 9, 2026, following a collaborative repatriation effort between the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and UAE officials. She was safely escorted throughout the journey by Cherrylene G. Girado, a Social Welfare Attache from the Migrant Workers Office in Dubai.
The young girl had spent the majority of her life, starting from just four months old, under the protective care of the Family Village in Al Warqa, Dubai. During her time there, she received dedicated support and nurturing to ensure her well-being while officials worked on the necessary arrangements for her homecoming. Upon landing in the Philippines, she was formally turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to ensure she receives continued care and proper placement, marking a successful mission driven by the government’s pledge to protect its most vulnerable citizens.
