Relief in Sight: UAE Temperatures Set to Drop by 5°C
As UAE residents endure the final stretch of a sweltering summer, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has signaled a welcome shift in the weather. Beginning August 20, the current spell of dusty, southerly winds is expected to give way to fresh north-westerly winds. This transition will bring a noticeable cool-down, with meteorologists predicting temperatures to fall by as much as 5°C. While the extreme heat will begin to subside, the NCM notes that this is a gradual process typical of the late-summer period, and residents should still prepare for warm, humid days until the official end of summer on September 23.
Beyond the cooling temperatures, the shift in atmospheric patterns may bring more than just a break from the heat. Forecasters are warning of potential mist and fog throughout the week, a common occurrence as land temperatures dip while humidity levels remain high. Additionally, the country could see some relief in the form of mild to moderate rainfall, particularly across eastern and southern regions this coming Friday and Saturday. Looking toward the future, the NCM is also monitoring potential El Niño effects, which could lead to unsettled weather conditions during the upcoming winter months.
