Major Automakers Issue Safety Recalls for Ford and Honda Models
In a recent safety update, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced significant recalls affecting both Ford and Honda vehicles. Ford is calling back over 548,000 Expedition SUVs manufactured between 2018 and 2024 due to a defect involving the center console's chrome plating. The regulator noted that this trim can bubble and peel over time, leaving behind sharp edges that pose a potential injury risk to passengers. According to investigators, the issue originated from a third-party supplier failing to adhere to Ford’s strict manufacturing standards.
Simultaneously, Honda Motor America is initiating a massive recall covering nearly 1.05 million vehicles, including specific Accord Hybrid, CR-V, and CR-V Hybrid models. The concern centers on a faulty sealant bottle within the provided tyre repair kits. Under certain conditions, pressure can accumulate inside the bottle, potentially causing the cap to dislodge forcefully. To ensure driver and passenger safety, both automakers have committed to addressing these defects by offering necessary repairs free of charge at authorized dealerships.
