Deadly Twin Attacks Hit Pakistan Police

Thu, Jul 16, 2026(4h ago)World

A violent day in Pakistan’s northwest left three police officers dead and scores injured following a pair of coordinated strikes on Wednesday. The initial assault took place in the Upper Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where militants staged a calculated ambush on a security convoy. According to local official Ibrahim Khan, the fierce skirmish resulted in the immediate death of three officers, while 15 others sustained injuries during the firefight.

Hours after the ambush, the region was hit by a second act of violence when a suicide bomber targeted a police station in the city of Bannu. The attacker drove an explosives-packed vehicle directly into the facility, causing significant structural damage and injuring at least five more officers. While the blast was powerful enough to compromise the building, authorities have confirmed that no fatalities were recorded in the second incident. Security forces remain on high alert as investigations into these back-to-back attacks continue across the province.
