Houthi Escalation in Southern Saudi Arabia Leaves 13 Injured

Tue, Sep 15, 2026(2h ago)World

A fresh wave of hostilities from Yemen’s Houthi rebels has left 13 civilians injured across southern Saudi Arabia following a coordinated assault using drones and ballistic missiles. According to the Riyadh-led military coalition, the strikes took place on September 14, targeting civilian areas in Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Taif. The attacks caused significant property destruction, damaging two vehicles and seven homes, marking another violent chapter in the ongoing regional conflict.

This incident follows a troubling pattern of aggression, with multiple strikes reported over the past week. Just days prior, a separate projectile hit the Al-Tuwal Governorate, wounding two people and damaging a local mosque. The intensity of these events mirrors a larger assault on September 8, which resulted in at least 73 injuries and targeted critical infrastructure in the energy sector, prompting fire outbreaks and operational disruptions. As tensions rise, the Saudi-led coalition has vowed a resolute response to these repeated provocations against the Kingdom’s border regions.
