Saudi Arabia Issues Stern Warning Following Houthi Missile and Drone Attacks

Tue, Sep 15, 2026(1h ago)World

Tensions in the Middle East have escalated sharply after a barrage of ballistic missiles and drones launched by Houthi rebels struck multiple locations in southern Saudi Arabia. The coordinated assault, which targeted areas including the King Khalid airbase in Khamis Mushait, left 13 civilians wounded and caused significant fires. In response to the provocation, the Riyadh-led coalition has vowed to take firm, operational measures to safeguard the Kingdom’s sovereignty and deter further aggression, launching over 50 retaliatory strikes against rebel positions.

The renewed violence coincides with a volatile period in Yemen, where the civil war has intensified following the Houthis' recent maritime blockade and the strategic seizure of key Red Sea coastlines. As regional stability remains fragile, diplomatic efforts appear deadlocked; Iran has denied involvement in the recent escalation, while the possibility of US-Iran negotiations remains uncertain despite recent comments from Washington. Meanwhile, the renewed fighting has triggered a humanitarian crisis, with the United Nations reporting that nearly 94,000 people have been forced to flee their homes as the conflict reaches a dangerous new turning point.
