GCC Secretary General calls for unified media strategy to combat misinformation

Tue, Sep 15, 2026(3h ago)World

During the recent Arab Media Summit 2026 in Dubai, GCC Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi emphasized the urgent need for Gulf nations to synchronize their media efforts. He argued that as the region navigates complex geopolitical shifts, it is essential to establish a cohesive framework that allows member states to speak with a single, authoritative voice. By coordinating across borders, Gulf countries can better navigate the modern information landscape and ensure their perspectives are represented accurately on the global stage.

Albudaiwi further stressed the importance of implementing tangible mechanisms to tackle the growing threat of false narratives and digital rumors. He urged media institutions within the GCC to adopt a shared vision that prioritizes rapid, verified communication across both traditional news outlets and digital platforms. Ultimately, this strategic alignment aims to safeguard the region’s public discourse by providing audiences with reliable information while effectively countering deliberate misinformation campaigns.
