Bahrain Authorities Uncover IRGC-Linked Network Targeting Religious Institutions
Bahraini authorities have apprehended 41 individuals allegedly operating on behalf of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to destabilize the nation. According to the Public Prosecution, this network systematically infiltrated mosques, religious seminaries, and funeral gatherings to promote the "Guardianship of the Jurist" doctrine. By exploiting these community spaces, the group sought to push a foreign-backed ideological agenda, recruit new followers, and intimidate religious scholars who dared to oppose their radical stance through smear campaigns and targeted fatwas.
Beyond the ideological subversion, the group was involved in extensive financial crimes, including the collection and laundering of funds intended to finance terrorist organizations in Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon. Investigators discovered that members had diverted some of these illicit funds for personal enrichment, purchasing luxury goods such as real estate, gold, and high-end vehicles. Authorities have since seized the group’s assets and a significant cache of propaganda materials, with ongoing interrogations conducted under standard legal protections to further dismantle the network's influence on national security.
