Abha Airport Disruptions: UAE and Saudi Flights Cancelled Following Houthi Attack
A wave of flight cancellations has hit Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia following a targeted attack by Yemen’s Houthi rebels late Monday. According to tracking data from Flightradar24, the disruption forced both national carrier Saudia and budget airline flynas to ground numerous domestic routes connecting Abha to major hubs like Riyadh and Jeddah. The instability also impacted international travel, with Dubai-based carrier flydubai cancelling two scheduled flights from Dubai International Airport to the Saudi city on Tuesday.
The military operation, which utilized a combination of ballistic missiles and drones, was confirmed by Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree, who further warned airlines to avoid Saudi airspace until the blockade on Sanaa International Airport is lifted. This escalation marks a significant turning point in the regional conflict, following weeks of heightened tensions and accusations between the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition. As the situation remains volatile, passengers are advised to check their flight status regularly, as the threat against Saudi airports and critical infrastructure continues to loom over regional travel.
