Wynn Al Marjan Island Delays Opening to 2027 Amid Regional Disruptions

Tue, Aug 4, 2026(3h ago)Business

The highly anticipated Wynn Al Marjan Island resort in Ras Al Khaimah has officially pushed its opening date to September 2027. Craig Billings, CEO of Wynn Resorts, confirmed that while construction is moving forward at a steady pace, the project has faced significant logistical hurdles. Ongoing regional conflicts have disrupted global supply chains and inflated shipping insurance costs, forcing the development team to reroute materials and expedite equipment deliveries. Beyond supply chain issues, the company noted that challenges involving the movement of specialized consultants and staff have also played a role in the revised timeline.

To navigate these setbacks, Wynn Resorts has increased the project’s total budget by approximately $600 million. Half of this hike is directly linked to the aforementioned geopolitical instability and rising material costs, while the remainder accounts for standard trade coordination and construction management expenses typical for a development of this size. Despite the financial adjustment and the delay, leadership remains highly optimistic about the UAE market, citing strong tourism activity and robust confidence in the region’s potential as a premier global destination. Interior fit-outs, including mechanical and electrical work, are currently progressing, keeping the project on track for its new 2027 debut.
