Magrabi Retail Set to Expand UAE Presence with Dubai Optical Acquisition

Mon, Nov 2, 2026(1h ago)Business

Middle East eyewear giant Magrabi Retail is set to bolster its presence in the UAE by acquiring Dubai Optical, a venerable name in the country’s premium eyewear market since 1978. The deal, which is currently awaiting regulatory approval, will see 15 locations under the Dubai Optical brand integrated into Magrabi’s extensive network. Rather than just a play for market share, CEO Yasser Taher describes the move as a strategic investment in a heritage brand, aiming to combine Dubai Optical’s long-standing customer trust with Magrabi’s global supply chain and clinical expertise.

This acquisition marks the fourth major transaction for Magrabi Retail in just two years, underscoring their aggressive growth strategy across the region. By absorbing established players like Dubai Optical—and pending deals like Baraka Optics—the group is positioning itself as the dominant force in the Middle Eastern optical sector. For the original owners of Dubai Optical, the transition represents a natural evolution of their family-built business, ensuring that the legacy initiated decades ago will continue to thrive under the support and resources of a larger regional platform.
