UAE’s Tourism Sector Hits New Heights with Dh251 Billion Contribution
The UAE’s travel and tourism industry has continued its impressive upward trajectory, contributing a massive Dh251.3 billion to the national economy in 2025. This marks a 3 percent increase over the previous year and an impressive 22.2 percent jump compared to 2019 figures, with international visitors alone accounting for roughly Dh209 billion. During a recent UAE Tourism Council meeting, Minister of Economy Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri emphasized that these results are a direct outcome of the country’s commitment to the National Tourism Strategy 2031, which focuses on diversifying tourism offerings, upgrading infrastructure, and maintaining the UAE's status as a premier global destination.
Looking ahead, the Council is sharpening its focus on sustainability and regional development. Officials are currently finalizing a new National Ecotourism Policy, which seeks to leverage the country’s 55 nature reserves to balance economic growth with environmental conservation. By highlighting unique natural experiences in each emirate and establishing unified safety standards for beaches and marine activities, the UAE aims to create a more cohesive and responsible tourism experience. Furthermore, the government is expanding its reach beyond major urban hubs by partnering with the UAE Villages project, aiming to bring remote and emerging destinations into the national spotlight while fostering deeper collaboration between the public and private sectors.
