Dubai Gold Prices Dip as Global Markets Experience a Downturn
Gold prices in Dubai saw a noticeable decline on Tuesday morning, with rates dropping by Dh5 compared to the previous day’s close. According to the Dubai Jewellery Group, the 24K gold variant opened the trading day at Dh437 per gram, a decrease from Monday's closing figure of Dh478. Similarly, other popular variants including 22K, 21K, 18K, and 14K also saw downward adjustments, trading at Dh438, Dh419.75, Dh359.75, and Dh280.75 per gram, respectively. This local trend mirrors the broader global market, where spot gold dipped by 0.87 percent to $3,925.5 per ounce, while silver also suffered a more significant decline of 2.52 percent.
Market analysts suggest that the recent dip below the $4,000 threshold may trigger further selling, particularly within physically backed gold products. Carsten Menke of Julius Baer pointed out that while the current economic climate—marked by a stronger dollar and shifting interest rate expectations—differs significantly from last year, these factors alone do not fully account for the recent volatility. Despite the immediate pressure on prices, analysts remain cautiously optimistic about the long-term outlook, noting that concerns over US national debt and the ongoing interest-rate burden are likely to provide underlying support for precious metals in the future.
