UAE and Saudi Arabia Spearheading the Global Move Toward Agentic AI
The UAE and Saudi Arabia are rapidly establishing themselves as global frontrunners in the implementation of agentic AI, a sophisticated category of technology capable of making independent decisions and executing tasks without human intervention. According to Confluent’s 2026 Data Streaming Report, 38 percent of enterprises in these nations have already transitioned from pilot programs to live, production-scale deployments. This shift distinguishes the Gulf region from many global counterparts, as these organizations move beyond simple generative tools to systems that can autonomously manage complex business workflows, such as handling bookings or executing financial transactions.
The success of these initiatives is largely driven by a strategic focus on underlying data infrastructure. Rather than focusing solely on the AI models themselves, leaders in the UAE and Saudi Arabia have identified real-time data streaming as a critical pillar for success, with roughly 90 percent of surveyed IT executives prioritizing this technology to ensure their AI systems have access to accurate, fresh, and contextual information. While challenges such as data quality, infrastructure gaps, and talent shortages remain, the proactive investment in robust data foundations positions the Gulf as a model for how to effectively scale autonomous intelligence in a competitive global landscape.
