Samsung’s Next Foldable Revolution: What to Expect from the Z Fold 8 Series

Wed, Jun 24, 2026(45d ago)Technology

Samsung is gearing up for a significant expansion of its foldable smartphone lineup, with recent regulatory approvals from the FCC and BIS signaling that the devices are moving into mass production. The upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, scheduled for July 22 in London, is expected to be a major turning point for the brand. Rather than sticking to a single model, Samsung is reportedly planning to diversify its offerings by introducing the high-end Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra alongside a new "Wide" variant, which aims to provide a more natural, broader aspect ratio for media consumption and daily multitasking.

The technical specifications for these new devices highlight a push toward both ultra-thin design and enhanced durability. The Z Fold 8 Ultra is rumored to feature an incredibly slim 4.1mm profile while packing a 5,000mAh battery and advanced camera hardware. Meanwhile, Samsung is reportedly experimenting with thicker ultra-thin glass for the Wide model to minimize the dreaded display crease. Coupled with the debut of One UI 9 and deep integration with Google’s Gemini AI, these foldables are positioned to be more than just hardware updates, aiming to set a new standard for AI-driven productivity in an increasingly competitive market.
