WhatsApp is rolling out a series of functional updates aimed at simplifying how we manage busy group conversations. The most notable addition is the "@all" tag, which allows users to alert every member of a group simultaneously. Perfect for urgent updates like meeting shifts or event deadlines, this feature bypasses the need for individual tagging. To keep things orderly, the platform has restricted the use of "@all" to group admins in chats with over 32 participants, though users can still opt-out of these specific notifications in their settings if they prefer.

In addition to mentions, WhatsApp is enhancing its polling system and group creation tools. Polls now offer greater flexibility, allowing creators to set expiration times, keep responses anonymous, and edit questions for up to 15 minutes after posting to fix any errors. Furthermore, the new "Create a similar group" feature streamlines the process of spinning off sub-groups. Instead of manually re-adding contacts, users can quickly pull participants from an existing chat, making it much easier to organize project teams or separate off-topic discussions. These updates are currently being pushed out to Android and iOS users in phases.
