Meta to Unveil Camera-Free 'Luna' Smart Glasses This Fall

Wed, Sep 16, 2026(1h ago)Technology

Meta is reportedly preparing to launch a new version of its smart glasses, internally referred to as "Luna," which notably excludes a built-in camera. This strategic pivot appears to be a direct response to rising privacy concerns surrounding the recording capabilities of current wearable devices. By removing the lens, Meta aims to offer a more approachable alternative that focuses on utility while avoiding the social friction often associated with camera-equipped eyewear.

According to recent reports, the Luna glasses will prioritize voice interaction, featuring an array of six microphones designed to integrate seamlessly with Meta’s AI chatbot and the newly introduced Muse AI agent. The hardware will include a dedicated side button for quick AI access and built-in speakers, maintaining a design language similar to previous iterations. If the current timeline holds, the company is expected to showcase the device at its upcoming annual Connect conference, with an official market release slated for October.
