NEET UG 2026: Nearly 2,000 UAE Students Gear Up for Mandatory Re-examination

Mon, Jun 15, 2026(2h ago)UAE

Around 1,800 to 1,900 students based in the UAE are preparing for a stressful academic hurdle as they head back to the exam hall for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination on June 21. This move comes after India’s National Testing Agency (NTA) was forced to scrap the original May 3 test due to widespread allegations of paper leaks and examination malpractice. The re-exam will be held across three major hubs—Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi—with authorities implementing significantly stricter security protocols to restore the integrity of what is widely considered India's most important gateway for medical degrees like MBBS and BDS.

To address previous concerns and ensure a smoother testing experience, officials have introduced several logistical adjustments. The exam duration has been extended by 15 minutes to 195 minutes, providing students with necessary breathing room for administrative tasks like invigilation and document handling. Additionally, the number of rough-work pages has been doubled to four, and seat allocations have been updated to accommodate returning students. With high-level oversight from Indian government representatives and the UAE-based Consulate, the NTA is employing a zero-tolerance policy, featuring intensive two-tier frisking and mandatory videography of every student. As the UAE remains the largest international hub for this exam, schools are working overtime to provide a secure and stress-free environment for candidates, who are urged to strictly follow dress codes and arrival times to avoid being barred from the premises.
