The Dubai Films and Games Commission (DFGC) has introduced a compelling new short film initiative titled “Stories of Our Determination,” designed to capture the resilience and solidarity of the UAE’s diverse population. Launched under the guidance of Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, this competition invites both students and seasoned professionals to tell stories of national strength across four key themes: protecting the nation, community unity, the continuation of daily life, and future ambitions. Participants can submit work in various formats, including animation, documentaries, fiction, and even AI-assisted projects, with the final selection culminating in a showcase of 55 films in honor of the 55th Eid Al Etihad.

The initiative offers a significant platform for creative growth, featuring ten awards distributed across five categories such as Best Documentary, Best Fiction, and the prestigious Grand Jury Prize. With a submission deadline of October 25, the competition promises top-tier recognition, offering prizes up to Dh50,000 for professional entries and Dh10,000 for students. Every submission undergoes a rigorous three-stage evaluation process, including an independent jury review, before the winning films are presented at a gala event. This serves as a unique opportunity for filmmakers across the UAE to gain industry exposure while documenting the country’s collective perseverance.
