Dubai Driver Sentenced After Meth-Fueled Crash

Fri, Jul 31, 2026(45d ago)UAE

A Dubai traffic court recently handed down a jail sentence and a hefty fine to an Asian motorist following a reckless accident in Al Qusais. The incident occurred when the driver, operating his vehicle while under the influence of crystal methamphetamine, reversed carelessly and collided with a boat parked near its owner’s residence. The crash caused significant damage to both the vessel and the driver’s own car, drawing the immediate attention of local authorities.

Upon arriving at the scene, responding officers noted the driver’s erratic behavior, which prompted a search that uncovered crystal meth inside his wallet. Forensic analysis later confirmed the substance was a banned narcotic. The defendant eventually confessed to consuming the drugs prior to getting behind the wheel and admitted that the substances were for personal use. In its final ruling, the court found the evidence, including his confession and the lab results, to be conclusive. Consequently, the judge consolidated the charges—ranging from drug possession to negligent property damage—and issued a sentence that includes imprisonment, a fine, and a three-month suspension of his driving privileges.
