UAE Flag Day 2026: What to Expect for School and Work Routines
As November 3 approaches, many families across the Emirates are wondering if UAE Flag Day will bring a break from the classroom. It is important to note that, unlike National Day in December, Flag Day is not a public holiday. Schools, government offices, and private businesses will operate as usual, with the main observance scheduled to take place at 11 am. On this day, citizens and residents are encouraged to come together to hoist the flag in a unified display of national pride, following a tradition initiated by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in 2013 to honor the country’s values and history.
While the day remains a standard working and school day, many educational institutions mark the occasion with special assemblies and activities. These programs are designed to help students connect with the symbolism of the nation, often involving the playing of the national anthem and lessons on the meaning behind the flag’s four colors—red, green, white, and black. Parents are encouraged to keep an eye on school communications for specific event details, as these activities provide a meaningful way for children from diverse backgrounds to learn about the history, unity, and heritage of the UAE.
