Meteorologist Ahmed Habib suggests that these unseasonal showers during the peak of summer may be influenced by the ongoing El Niño phenomenon—a natural climate cycle that alters global wind and rainfall patterns by warming surface waters in the Pacific Ocean.

Despite the intense summer heat, which recently saw temperatures hit 50°C in Abu Dhabi, residents in various regions can expect convective cloud formations throughout the coming days. From August 3 to August 6, the eastern and southern parts of the country are particularly likely to experience rain, accompanied by light to moderate winds that may stir up dust. While the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea are expected to remain relatively calm, the public is advised to stay alert as these afternoon showers continue to impact the region.
