UAE Flag Day Sparks Retail Rush in Dubai

Sat, Oct 31, 2026(2h ago)UAE

As the November 3rd celebration of UAE Flag Day approaches, businesses across Dubai are seeing a significant surge in consumer interest. Traders in the historic Deira Old Souk report that demand is spiking for a wide variety of items, ranging from massive 25-meter banners meant for building facades to modest, palm-sized hand flags. Retailers like Abdul Badi have noted a steady influx of both individual shoppers and wholesalers looking to stock up, with prices reflecting the variety in size and material, starting from as low as Dh12 for smaller cotton versions to over Dh600 for the largest displays.

The excitement extends well beyond traditional flags, as residents prepare to decorate their homes and offices in the national colors. Shops are currently well-stocked with themed accessories, including badges, decorative bows, T-shirts, and even clothing for children. This trend is also evident in major local supermarkets, where shoppers are actively seeking out commemorative merchandise. This widespread preparation aligns with the call from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who has encouraged citizens and residents to raise the flag as a profound symbol of unity, marking the beginning of a month-long celebration leading up to the UAE’s National Day on December 2.
