Summer Travel Surge: UAE Flight Costs Double as Residents Head Home

Wed, Aug 5, 2026(45d ago)UAE

Travelers heading back to the UAE face a significant financial sting as ticket prices for late August have skyrocketed by over 100% on several popular routes. As the summer holidays draw to a close and families rush to return before schools resume, airfares from various Indian cities and Beirut have seen a sharp upward trajectory. For instance, flights from Bengaluru and Kochi to Dubai have more than doubled in cost, leaving many residents searching for affordable ways to conclude their vacations.

Interestingly, this price hike is not a global phenomenon, as several major hubs have remained surprisingly stable. Travelers flying from Pakistan, including Karachi and Lahore, are actually seeing lower fares compared to mid-August, while routes from New York and London have shown little to no volatility. Industry experts point out that the surge is heavily concentrated in regions with the highest demand for return travel to the UAE. Travel agents anticipate these high prices will persist until early September, suggesting that those planning to return after September 10th may finally see a much-needed cooling off in market rates.
