RTA Completes Major Maintenance on Key Dubai Highways
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully wrapped up its annual preventive maintenance initiative, covering 20 kilometers of critical road infrastructure. The project focused on the slow lanes of five major thoroughfares, most notably the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311) and Emirates Road (E611). Other areas addressed include segments of Lehbab Road, the Dubai–Al Ain route, and Al Rebat Street. By targeting these essential transit arteries, the RTA aims to preserve the structural integrity of the network while ensuring a safer and smoother driving experience for motorists across the emirate.
To stay ahead of wear and tear, the RTA has moved beyond reactive repairs, adopting a sophisticated, proactive maintenance strategy that utilizes artificial intelligence and advanced laser scanning. According to Nabeel Mohammed, director of Roads and Facilities Maintenance, these technologies allow the authority to detect cracks and potholes long before they become visible or dangerous to the average driver. Furthermore, the RTA carefully plans any necessary traffic diversions using international best practices to minimize congestion. Officials have urged drivers to remain vigilant and follow all posted signage in work zones to ensure both personal safety and the continued efficiency of Dubai's rapidly growing road network.
