US to Mediate Russia-Ukraine Peace Talks in Abu Dhabi
The United States is preparing to host representatives from Russia and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi this November 10-11, aiming to jumpstart negotiations to resolve the ongoing conflict. U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed that these sessions will focus on critical issues, including humanitarian aid, de-escalation strategies, and the framework for post-war security. Along with lead negotiator Jared Kushner, the U.S. delegation seeks to secure a breakthrough before the harsh winter weather complicates the situation on the ground.
This diplomatic initiative follows recent discussions between Vladimir Putin and Witkoff in St. Petersburg, signaling a renewed push for peace. Ahead of the summit, American officials are also coordinating with key European allies and NATO members in Brussels to align on long-term security guarantees and reconstruction support for Ukraine. While significant gaps remain between the positions of Moscow and Kyiv, the Trump administration has been increasingly assertive in encouraging both sides to find common ground and move toward a durable resolution.
