Dubai Police Warn Against Deceptive Part-Time Job Scams

Wed, Aug 5, 2026(45d ago)UAE

Dubai Police have issued a serious warning following a rise in sophisticated job scams targeting residents with promises of flexible, remote work. In a recent case, a man identified as 'S' fell victim to these criminals after responding to an enticing social media advertisement. The fraudsters, posing as a legitimate financial services firm, manipulated him into using his personal bank account to funnel illicit funds. Under the guise of administrative tasks, he was instructed to receive money and quickly transfer it to other accounts, earning a small commission for his efforts, all while remaining unaware that he was unknowingly facilitating money laundering for a criminal syndicate.

Authorities emphasize that these scams often prey on job seekers by requesting personal banking information or asking for upfront fees for "account activation" or "registration." Beyond the immediate financial risks, victims face severe legal consequences for their involuntary participation in these illegal activities. To avoid becoming a target, Dubai Police urge the public to only engage with officially accredited companies and to verify any job offer thoroughly. Never share sensitive banking details with unverified sources, and always report suspicious activity immediately through the eCrime platform or by dialing 901.
