Dubai to Expand Rail Connectivity with Second Etihad Rail Station
Dubai is set to significantly enhance its public transport infrastructure by integrating the upcoming national Etihad Rail and high-speed Dubai-Abu Dhabi train projects directly into its existing Metro network. Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the RTA, confirmed that these railway initiatives are designed to seamlessly link with city-wide transit lines. This strategic alignment will allow commuters to travel effortlessly from train stations to major residential and business hubs, effectively reducing the city's reliance on private vehicles and taxis.
Under the current master plan, the Etihad Rail network is slated to feature two distinct stations within Dubai, with Al Yalayis already identified and a second location yet to be announced. Additionally, the highly anticipated high-speed rail service between Abu Dhabi and Dubai will serve two strategic points: Al Maktoum International Airport and Al Jaddaf. The RTA is actively collaborating with Etihad Rail to ensure these national projects are fully synchronized with local transport networks, a topic highlighted during the announcement of the upcoming RailX Dubai Conference and Exhibition scheduled for 2027.
