Dubai Police have issued a stern warning to motorists after a truck driver fell asleep at the wheel, leading to a collision with a safety barrier on the E611 Emirates Road. The incident, which occurred near the Dubai Flyover heading toward Abu Dhabi, resulted in the driver veering off the road and sustaining minor injuries. Fortunately, the driver received immediate medical attention on-site, but authorities are using this event to highlight the severe dangers of operating a vehicle while exhausted.

Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, director of the General Department of Traffic, emphasized that even a few seconds of lost focus can lead to catastrophic results. He noted that fatigue drastically impairs a driver’s reaction time and decision-making capabilities, making it difficult to maintain lane control or respond to road hazards. To prevent such accidents, officials are urging drivers to prioritize rest before embarking on long trips and to pull over immediately if they feel the onset of drowsiness.
