Dubai Unveils Massive 80km Road Corridor Linking Abu Dhabi and Sharjah

Thu, Sep 17, 2026(2h ago)UAE

Dubai is set to launch a major infrastructure project with the approval of an 80-kilometre "Fourth Corridor," designed to seamlessly link the emirate's road network with the broader UAE federal system. Backed by the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed officially greenlit the project, emphasizing its role in bolstering Dubai’s long-term economic growth. This expansive route will stretch from Al Faya Road in Abu Dhabi to Al Shanouf Road in Sharjah, featuring a robust design that includes 12 lanes, 72 bridges, and 17 tunnels.

The new corridor is expected to be a game-changer for regional travel, cutting commute times by as much as 60 percent for over 3.1 million residents. By connecting vital hubs like Al Maktoum International Airport and the Etihad Rail network, the project will significantly enhance logistics and passenger mobility. With the first phase—linking Al Shanouf Road to the Dubai-Al Ain Road—already priced at Dh3.5 billion, this initiative underscores Dubai's unwavering commitment to building world-class infrastructure that supports a rapidly growing population and a thriving economy.
