Dubai’s RTA Unveils Ambitious AI Strategy to Revolutionize Transport and Services
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially launched an ambitious AI strategy aimed at significantly enhancing operational efficiency and customer convenience across the emirate. By integrating advanced Agentic AI systems, the authority plans to reduce traffic congestion by up to 5% and drastically cut service processing times. The initiative is not merely about digitizing existing workflows; it represents a fundamental shift toward intelligent systems that can analyze data, predict outcomes, and manage complex tasks autonomously. With a goal of generating Dh300 million in annual value, the RTA intends to transition half of its core operations to an AI-driven model by 2027.
The practical impact of this strategy will be most visible to residents through tools like the upgraded "Mahboub" chatbot, which is evolving from a basic inquiry tool into a transaction-processing powerhouse capable of completing vehicle licensing in under five minutes. Beyond consumer-facing tech, the RTA is applying AI to streamline backend logistics, such as the eNOC application process and the auditing of licensing documents, which will be accelerated up to 21 times faster. Furthermore, the public bus network is set for an upgrade with an AI-powered planner, designed to optimize routes and improve on-time performance. By leveraging partnerships with tech giants and investing in employee upskilling, the RTA is positioning Dubai as a global leader in smart, proactive urban mobility.
