India’s Medical Entrance Crisis: NEET UG Re-examination Set Amid Strict Security
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to conduct a fresh NEET UG examination on June 21, 2026, following the cancellation of the May 3 test. The initial exam, which saw over 2.28 million students participate across 551 cities, was scrapped after allegations of widespread paper leaks rocked the medical education sector. A high-profile investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has since led to nearly 50 arrests across multiple states, including key figures like chemistry lecturer P.V. Kulkarni and various educators accused of orchestrating the breach.
To prevent a repeat of this crisis, the NTA has implemented extreme security measures for the upcoming re-test. Question paper setters and moderators are currently being held in strict, undisclosed isolation to ensure total confidentiality. Furthermore, the agency has partnered with the Indian Air Force for secure logistics and deployed half a million security personnel alongside AI-enabled surveillance systems. While rumors of fresh leaks continue to circulate online, the NTA has firmly dismissed these as fraudulent attempts by cheating syndicates to exploit student anxiety, assuring the public that the process is now fully secured.
