Oman Authorities Apprehend 19 Individuals for Illegal Entry
On Monday, June 15, the Royal Oman Police confirmed the arrest of 19 individuals who were caught attempting to enter the Sultanate illegally. The group, all of whom are Asian nationals, were intercepted along the coastline of Barka in the South Al Batinah Governorate. Local police and the coast guard coordinated the operation, and officials are currently finalizing the necessary legal proceedings against those detained.
This incident is part of a recurring pattern of unauthorized border crossings in the region. Similar security operations have taken place recently, including the arrest of 18 Ethiopian nationals last July and a separate group of 29 individuals caught arriving by boat from Iran in June. Beyond border security, law enforcement has also been active in addressing wider criminal activity, recently taking 40 individuals of various nationalities into custody in Muscat for offenses ranging from residency and labor violations to the possession of narcotics and counterfeit goods.
