Free Aadhaar Email Updates Starting July 1

Sat, Jun 27, 2026(3h ago)World

Starting July 1, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is making it easier for citizens to manage their personal details by waiving the service fee for updating email addresses on Aadhaar cards. For a six-month period ending on December 31, users can modify their registered email IDs at no cost through the official Aadhaar mobile application. This move is part of a broader effort to digitize identity management, moving away from the traditional requirement of visiting physical Aadhaar centers for routine updates.

The redesigned app offers a secure, user-friendly experience, featuring biometric locks and face authentication to protect personal data. Beyond simple updates, the platform allows parents to manage up to five family profiles under one registered mobile number and simplifies identity verification through a secure, QR-enabled system that reduces the need for paper documentation. With over 31 million downloads already recorded, the app has quickly become a vital tool for millions of Indians to verify their identity and maintain their records efficiently from the comfort of their own homes.
