Baguio City Experiences 4.5 Magnitude Earthquake
A magnitude 4.5 earthquake rattled the residents of Baguio City and surrounding areas in the northern Philippines on Thursday afternoon. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the tremor struck at 2:33 p.m. local time, with its epicenter pinpointed just 9 kilometers west of Tuba, Benguet. While the event was described by locals as a brief but distinct shake, officials have confirmed that there is no immediate expectation of structural damage or significant aftershocks.
Phivolcs recorded the strongest impact at Intensity V in Baguio City, as well as in Tubao and Pugo, La Union. The tremor was also widely felt across various neighboring towns and provinces, with intensities ranging from IV down to II reported in cities like San Fernando, Dagupan, and even as far as Mountain Province.
