Mumbai’s Beloved K Rustom Ice Cream Parlour Shut Down Over Hygiene Violations
The legendary K Rustom ice cream parlour in Mumbai has been ordered to suspend operations following a rigorous inspection by the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA). During a city-wide crackdown on eateries, officials discovered severe sanitation failures at the iconic shop, including a significant rodent infestation and the presence of expired flavoring agents. Disturbingly, reports indicate that staff attempted to dismiss the presence of nearly 20 rats by claiming they were "pets," highlighting a blatant disregard for basic health standards in a facility where food is manufactured.
The FDA has mandated that the establishment remain closed until further notice, pending laboratory results from various food samples collected on-site. Past inspections had already raised red flags, with tests revealing that the parlour's ice cream fell short of the minimum 10 percent milk fat requirement mandated by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The parlour will only be permitted to resume business once they successfully address these critical safety lapses and prove full compliance with state food quality regulations.
