Palm Beach International Airport Officially Becomes President Donald J. Trump International Airport
The Palm Beach International Airport has officially been rechristened as the President Donald J. Trump International Airport, a move that cements the former president's strong ties to his adopted home state of Florida. The transition, which was facilitated by legislation signed earlier this year by Governor Ron DeSantis, marks yet another addition to a growing list of landmarks, military vessels, and government programs bearing the Trump name. While the airport’s official FAA identification code has already transitioned from PBI to DJT, travelers should continue using the legacy code for booking purposes until mid-August, when the new branding will fully roll out across tickets, baggage tags, and reservation systems.
The renaming process, which reportedly carried a price tag of $5.5 million, saw a ceremonial kickoff with Eric Trump arriving on a private jet to ensure his family secured the honor of being the first to touch down at the rebranded facility. This change places the airport in the company of other U.S. transit hubs named after political figures, such as those honoring the Clintons in Arkansas or former lawmakers in Las Vegas and California. Despite the high-profile nature of the update, the airport remains a critical hub for major carriers like JetBlue, Delta, and American Airlines, which collectively manage the vast majority of local air traffic.
