Emirates and South African Airways (SAA) Boost Connectivity with Expanded Codeshare

Wed, Aug 5, 2026(1h ago)World

Emirates and South African Airways (SAA) have officially taken their long-standing partnership to the next level by launching a new reciprocal codeshare agreement. While the two airlines previously maintained a one-way arrangement, this updated deal allows Emirates to place its code on SAA-operated flights for the first time. This move effectively integrates their networks, providing travelers with significantly easier access to a broader range of destinations throughout South Africa and the surrounding region.

The expansion introduces nine new routes, including essential domestic links from Johannesburg to Cape Town, Durban, and Port Elizabeth. Additionally, the partnership opens up key regional hubs, connecting Johannesburg to cities such as Kinshasa, Gaborone, Windhoek, Lusaka, Harare, and Victoria Falls. Both airlines emphasized that this collaboration is a strategic step toward simplifying travel and offering customers more choice, further strengthening a relationship that has been a staple for both carriers since Emirates first began its South African operations nearly three decades ago.
