Turbulence Scare on Air India Flight Leaves Passengers Injured
A passenger aboard an Air India flight traveling from Phuket to Delhi has lodged a formal complaint with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) following a harrowing mid-air incident on August 4. The complainant reported that the aircraft experienced a sudden 300-foot drop, which threw several passengers toward the cabin ceiling. Among those injured were his elderly in-laws, who sustained rib and spinal injuries, as well as bruising. The passenger expressed deep frustration, noting that the crew allegedly discouraged the recording of the event and failed to divert the flight to a nearby airport for urgent medical care.
Upon landing in New Delhi, the family reportedly faced further difficulties, claiming there was a lack of immediate ground support, including a shortage of wheelchairs and ambulance access. The passenger has called for a comprehensive investigation into the airline's decision-making and emergency response protocols. In response, Air India acknowledged the incident, characterizing it as turbulence that caused a brief change in altitude and minor injuries to some on board. The airline stated that they are conducting an internal review to address the passenger's grievances, maintaining that the safety and well-being of their travelers remain their primary concern.
