Dewa Expands Power Grid with 793 New Substations in Dubai

Sun, Aug 9, 2026(46d ago)Business

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has successfully commissioned 793 new 11kV substations during the first half of 2026, marking a significant milestone in the emirate’s ongoing urban development. This massive infrastructure project required over 624,000 man-hours to complete, with the utility provider emphasizing that all work adhered to the highest international standards for safety and operational efficiency. These substations serve as the backbone of the city’s electrical grid, ensuring that power is safely transformed and distributed to meet the rising demands of both residential neighborhoods and commercial districts.

Managing Director and CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer noted that this expansion is part of a broader strategy to stay ahead of Dubai’s rapid growth and cement its status as a world-class hub for investment and innovation. By integrating cutting-edge technology, DEWA continues to maintain its impressive record of minimal power loss and industry-leading reliability. With a vast network already in place, including tens of thousands of medium and high-voltage facilities, the authority remains committed to supporting future economic projects while ensuring that Dubai’s infrastructure keeps pace with its expanding landscape.
