Jeddah Tower: Construction Hits Major Milestone as it Races to Beat Burj Khalifa

Mon, Aug 10, 2026(1h ago)Business

The ambitious Jeddah Tower project in Saudi Arabia is moving forward at an impressive pace, with developers recently confirming that the structure has soared past the 430-meter mark. Now standing at 106 levels, the tower has officially surpassed the halfway point of the current world-record holder, the Burj Khalifa. Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, chairman of Kingdom Holding, recently toured the site to inspect the progress, expressing confidence in the team's ability to eventually cross the 1,000-meter threshold and claim the title of the world’s tallest building.

Designed by the renowned firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture—the same minds behind the Burj Khalifa—the Jeddah Tower is a marvel of modern engineering. The massive complex will eventually span 530,000 square meters, featuring a high-speed elevator system capable of moving at 10 meters per second. Despite facing significant setbacks since its 2013 inception, including economic challenges and the global pandemic, the project is now back on track. With over 300,000 cubic meters of concrete poured and a workforce of 6,400 people on-site, the skyscraper is steadily rising to redefine the Saudi skyline.
