Spinneys Sees H1 Profit Growth and Declares Dividend
Spinneys has reported a solid start to the year, with first-half profits climbing 2.5% to Dh175 million. This financial uptick was bolstered by a 5.1% rise in revenue, which reached Dh1.91 billion, supported by the launch of 11 new locations across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. As the retailer’s total selling space crossed the one-million-square-foot milestone, the board signaled its confidence in the company’s trajectory by approving an interim dividend of Dh122.4 million, or 3.40 fils per share, scheduled for distribution in early September.
Despite facing external challenges such as supply chain disruptions near the Strait of Hormuz, Spinneys managed to maintain momentum through strategic inventory management and the rerouting of cargo. The retailer saw a significant 6.1% boost in transaction volumes, alongside a growing preference for its online offerings and fresh-food segments. Looking ahead, the company is doubling down on its expansion strategy, having recently increased its stake in Spinneys KSA to 70%, with further plans to enter the Kuwaiti and Philippine markets as it continues to navigate shifting regional logistics and retail conditions.
