UAE August Essential Commodity Price Report

Fri, Sep 18, 2026(2h ago)Business

The UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism has released its price monitoring report for August 2026, offering a detailed look at the costs of 33 key household staples. By tracking 13 major retail outlets via its "Essential Goods Prices Platform," the ministry aims to foster market transparency and keep a close watch on inflation trends. This digital initiative allows consumers and regulators to stay informed about price fluctuations for everyday necessities, including pantry essentials like rice, flour, dairy, and cooking oils.

The data reveals that consumers can find varying price points depending on the brand and package size. For instance, while a 1kg bag of Basmati rice averaged around Dh16.62, the ministry also highlighted the most budget-friendly options available across the market. Notable low prices included Dh1.42 for a small container of yoghurt and Dh3.22 for a half-litre of fresh milk. By providing these comprehensive figures, the government ensures that residents have access to reliable data to help manage their monthly grocery budgets effectively.
